Can I use a bar with the Band Box ?
While I don't find a bar essential, you can certainly use resistance
band bars with the band box.
As an example, take a look at
Getting Stronger With X3 And The Bandbox (Youtube).
- Don't use the pins as shown in the video, as this introduces friction.
- Use the supplied block in the middle to protect your feet in case
you let go of the bar.
- Shorten the band by pulling it up in the middle, same as the setup
shown for "trap bar squat".
- The Band Box does not have guide rollers. Center the band and use
a proper bar path above your mid foot to keep the band from sliding.
Using a pin or block in the middle will help prevent band wander.
- For biceps curls, band wander can become more of an issue.
In my opinion, the foot plate does not add much value here - just step
on the band to do curls.
Affordable bar options:
- Geku fit aluminum bar (on Amazon).
- J Bryant resistance band bar (on Aliexpress). Not sure how band
friendly their hooks are.
Quality bar option:
- I can recommend the
Heavydutybar.com Bantam
Bar. The 70 cm length works well with the Band Box. The hooks rotate
independently and allow for quick and easy band insertion. Nicely made from
stainless steel. Order the larger 14.5 cm hooks to fit wide bands.
The bar is available in 28 or 30 mm thickness, pick depending on the size
of your hands.
